Home Biz Guys Founded 2009
Home Biz Guys' mission is "Teaching people around the world why the wealthy are wealthy, and how anyone can reach their dreams of becoming financially free."
In January 2009 approximately a dozen of members from a primary network marketing company "cornered" Matt Conner and Mark Archer on how to market their businesses online.
Without hesitation, the co-founders began to teach some of the strategies and tactics they had used to market their business.
Interestingly, after some initial research, the HBG co-founders discovered a lack of business skills and marketing skills were not isolated to one particular company or industry, and were prevalent across the network marketing industry and together, Matt Conner, Mark Archer and Adam Olsen began their quest to teach these vital marketing and business skills and HomeBizGuys.com was born.
Matt was born in Castro Valley, CA and spent the first 18 years of his life through the end of high school in the Bay Area. He then attended the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) using an NROTC (Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp) scholarship and majoring in Political Science.
In 1995, he graduated from UCSD and was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. Having been accepted into the Navy’s pilot flight training program Matt moved to Pensacola, FL in the sum
mer of 1995 to begin his naval career and pursue his lifelong dream of flying in the Navy.
In 1997, he received his Naval Aviator wings of gold and was selected to fly helicopters on the West Coast at San Diego, CA.
After some advanced training learning how to fly and operate the Sikorsky SH-60F/HH-60H he was assigned to his first operational squadron, HS-6 (HELANTISUBRON Six).
While at HS-6, Matt served on two deployments with Carrier Air Wing 11 (CVW-11) aboard the USS CARL VINSON (CVN-72) in support of Operation Southern Watch and Operation Enduring Freedom.
In October of 2006, Matt moved his family from the sunny skies of San Diego, California to the big sky of Bozeman, Montana, his wife’s hometown. His wife, Cheri had just graduated from her anesthesia residency at UCSD and had always dreamed of returning to her home town. When a job opened up with the local anesthesia group in Bozeman Matt and Cheri took the opportunity and relocated. Matt continued serving at HSC-85 as a reserve pilot making the trip down to San Diego once a month to fly and participate in reserve duties.

When he moved to Bozeman, Matt began work as a stay at home dad and a DoD (Department of Defense) consultant in addition to his job as a Navy reserve pilot.
He was working very hard without much income to show for it.
In 2008, Matt decided he was working too hard and gone from his family too much to justify continuing what he was doing. He left the Navy reserve in October 2008 and started looking for something else he could do part time while still taking care of his two children, ages three and one.
He knew getting another conventional job was not going to help his financial situation long term as he always sought the path to achieve financial freedom. Several years prior to this Matt had read Robert Kiyosaki’s “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and since then had tried to grow his financial literacy and knew ultimately that he wanted to be a business owner.
Matt began looking for opportunities to own a
business where he could use the cash flow from business to buy the assets necessary for to achieve the goal of financial freedom.
He looked at buying an established "traditional" business and looked at buying a franchised business. He also looked at starting his own conventional business, but soon realized that it took massive amounts of capital to do any of these things. Worse yet, the chances that a business of this type failing within a couple years was astronomically high, and that wasn’t a risk Matt was willing to take. Besides all this, the other major drawback to starting or buying a business like this was the inherent time commitment it would take to succeed. Matt had left the Navy because he was tired of the separation from family, and knew a new start up business would mean even more separation from them.
In November 2008, an ex-Navy squadron mate of Matt's, Mark Archer, introduced Matt to a totally different business concept. It was a business concept where one can be a true business owner yet have the flexibility to work wherever, however and as much or as little time as they want.
This sounded like exactly what Matt was looking for, but when he found out the business concept he was talking about was in the network marketing industry he put on the brakes and became very skeptical.
Matt had experienced network or multi-level marketing before in the mid-1990’s when he joined a company at the bequest of a good friend. Just two months after Matt joined, the company went bankrupt and he lost the several hundred dollars he had invested. He then swore off network marketing forever.
Fortunately, Mark helped Matt get over that bad experience by sending a Robert Kiyosaki book, “The Business School For People Who Like Helping People”.
As it turns out Robert Kiyosaki wholeheartedly endorses the network marketing industry and actually recommends that people start a netw
ork marketing business as a way to make their first transition from lifelong employee to first time business owner. He goes on in his book to say that he recommends building a network marketing business because it is very inexpensive to start , the training received is superb, and the business model itself is built around incredible leverage.
Mark had joined and started to build a business with a company called Kyäni. Kyäni is in the health and wellness industry, and it’s representatives distribute their product line of health supplements through network marketing. Once Matt was convinced that network marketing was indeed legitimate and something he could do, there was no stopping him from joining Mark as a partner in Kyäni. Of course, along with anything else in business, due diligence needs to be done on any business opportunity. If he had done due dlligence before his first experience with network marketing in the mid-1990s he would probably have never joined that company that went bankrupt two months after he joined.
After he had done due diligence on Kyäni and was convinced that this was a legitimate, financially secure company that had positioned themselves for the long term, he became a business owner and distributor on Mark’s team.
He was now a business owner! And a very excited one at that.
His background and training up to this point had not really prepared him to be a business owner so now it was time to buckle down and learn about business and what it would take to be successful.
Matt quickly found out through his training and research as well as from Mark himself that the world of network marketing has changed quite a bit since the mid-1990s. The old methods of making a warm market list, and then chasing down every family member and friend you know to join you in your business was not the mos
t efficient way to grow a business any longer. The most efficient way to run a business these days is through the use of the internet.
The internet has opened up worlds of possibility to change the way that things have been done since the beginning of the network marketing industry 30-40 years ago. No longer do you have to chase down friends and family to join you, but now you can actually have people calling you and chasing you down wanting to join you in your business through the use of the internet. It is a paradigm shift for most network marketers to think in these terms, but it is by far the most effective and efficient way to market in this day and age.
As Matt continues to grow his business through the use of the internet and reach new pinnacles of success from it, he invites you to come along for the ride!

Mark Archer
After high school in Glen Ridge, NJ, Mark Archer attended and graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. Following graduation, he attended the U.S. Navy Flight School and was winged a Naval Aviator in 1999.
Graduating From the US Merchant Marine Academy
Mark's first network marketing experience didn't turn out well as the company was forced to close its doors 6 months after launching. In his next company, Mark enjoyed moderate success.
Mark's third network marketing company was a huge success and through carefully following the company's system, Mark rose to the highest paid position in the company and became a NM leader in several states.
After some legal issues with his third company, Mark took a break from the industry, did some consulting work and after searching for 6 months, has finally found a long-term, stable company.
Now, using the internet and basic marketing principles, Mark and his team only work with SERIOUS people who can see themselves being a positive impact to many families.

Hi guys - love the site and the concept. I must admit that I have been floundering around on the internet for a while now.
I've been building contacts through the social networks (most effectively with Facebook and Twitter) without any clear idea of what to do next.
I think that this may be the place that a lot of newbies are in….enjoying the process but not knowing the next move.
I hope to glean some ideas from your site and take my activities to a more professional level.
The site is easy to navigate and beautifully laid out - sounds like a small thing but I have been on so many sites where I got completely lost.
Thanks for the free membership.
Kind regards
